Jessica Simpson puts the jinx on Romomania

Every since Jessica Simpson she showed up wearing a Pink #9 Jersey during a 2007 Dallas Cowboys home game versus the Philadelphia Eagles, Cowboy fans have screaming for Tony Romo to dump his Hollywood starlet. Bill Parcells warned Romo not to be a celebrity quarterback but apparently he forgot to say anything about celebrity girlfriends. Case in point, Romo and the Cowboys were rolling along headed towards the NFC best record and home field advantage for the 2007 NFL playoffs when Jessica made her NFL debut. The Cowboys laid and egg that day and Tony Romo had his worst game as a pro. The Cowboys barely hung on to their home field advantage but were dumped during the first game of the 2007 playoffs. The next started off seemingly ok but it wasn't long before the Simpson jinx was in full swing. Tony Romo suffered his first major injury when he broke a finger on his throwing hand in game 6. Romo missed 4 weeks of action and never fully recovered. The Cowboys missed the 2008 NFL Playoffs because of his absence and poor play when he was on the field.

During the 2009 offseason, Cowboy fans were hopeful that Romo would see the err of his ways and rededicate himself to the game of football. Rededicating himself would include dumping his Hollywood girlfriend Jessica Simpson. Despite the break up rumors, it appears to Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson are as close as ever and there may be wedding bells in the near future. Cowboy fans have were a bit spoiled during the 90s with a QB that was all business. Troy Aikman was so dedicated to the game of football that there were many rumors that he must be gay. Of course, those rumors were proven false when he was married soon after he retired from football. The key word being AFTER he retired and not before. So Cowboy fans hoping for a new and improved Tony Romo for the 2009 season are likely to get a re-polished version of the Jessica Simpson jinx.
